We aim to provide you with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about cremation and funeral arrangements, ensuring you understand our processes and standards at the Cremation Society of Alaska.
At the Cremation Society of Alaska, we own and operate our own crematory within our secure facility. This ensures that your loved one never leaves our care. Alaska lacks state rules or regulations specific to cremation, but we adhere strictly to the standards set by the Cremation Association of North America (CANA) and the National Funeral Directors Association. Our commitment to excellence is underscored by the fact that our staff are the only CANA Certified Cremation Operators in Alaska.
Each cremation at our facility is conducted individually to uphold our standards of care, dignity, and meticulous attention. This ensures there is no mixing of cremains, guaranteeing a respectful process for each individual.
As members of the Cremation Association of North America, our staff undergo advanced certifications and adhere strictly to a Cremation Code of Ethics. This commitment ensures every staff member involved in the cremation process is highly trained, continuously educated, and dedicated to upholding dignity and honesty in their responsibilities.
Cremation involves reducing the deceased's body to bone fragments through heat and flame. We use the term "cremated remains" instead of "ashes" to accurately describe the outcome. Our funeral directors and crematory staff are available to explain the characteristics of cremated remains in detail. If scattering is considered, we provide guidance and preparation to ensure families understand what to expect. Religious considerations, such as those in the Catholic faith, may also influence decisions regarding the handling of cremated remains.
As members of the Cremation Association of North America (CANA), we adhere to a stringent Code of Ethics that highlights dignity, respect, and compassion in our care for the deceased and support for the living. We maintain a respectful environment, carefully select and train our crematory staff, and advocate for meaningful memorialization.
This code reflects our commitment as a locally managed, family-owned funeral home, ensuring the highest standards of care and compassion during your time of loss.
We believe in:
This Code of Ethics guides us in serving you and your family with the utmost care and dedication.
